I am Jaguar Paw…this is my forest…and I am not afraid!
February 3, 2007In the middle of the movie, my wife whispered to me "ang OA mo naman".
Apektado na naman ako.
Had the same feeling after watching Casino, Braveheart and Saving Private Ryan. Felt so depressed and exhausted! Why? Bukod sa galong-galong dugo na umapaw sa mga pelikulang ito, hindi ko ma-take na umagang umaga pa lang, nagpapatayan na sila.
Anyways, the movie was great overall although I was a bit disappointed with how the story went, Based on the trailer, opening quote and the title, I expected that the movie will emphasize on how the Mayan civilization ended and based on a theory, it was because of a revolution. I thought it will be a south american version of Braveheart. But still, as I've said, the movie was great, visuals were awesome and it wasn't that violent (at least for me) as hyped.

Since the beginning of the film, there was a question on my mind, "Where the hell do they find a great cast like this?!" later found out that the lead role Jaguar Paw (Rudy Youngblood, who changed his last name from Gonzalez) is an American actor with Native American descents and Zero Wolf (Raoul Trujillo) is an Apache Actor with 25 years acting experience. Oo nga pala, Holywood movie nga pala ito at hindi sila kukuha ng mga pulpulin. Hehehe.I also liked Middle Eye's character (Gerardo Taracena, also an accomplished actor with 6 movies under his belt) because he pissed me off (also my seatmate) and when Jaguar Paw's payback came, gigil na gigil akong tumayo at sumigaw (sa isip ko lang) "P*TANG INA MO! BUTI NGA SA'YO HAYUP KA!!! HAHAHA!!". Mukha pa lang kasi mababad-trip ka na!
The chase was awesome! Exhausting too, I bet. The part that I loved most was when Jaguar Paw suddenly stopped running and said to himself (panting) "I am Jaguar Paw…this is my forest…and I am not afraid…" he then starts to fight back.
I was supposed to make a synopsis but it's a lazy monday and I'll leave it up to Apocalypto's homepage.
